Home office

I need a home office intervention.  Any thoughts and sites and ideas?

Being organized is not my natural state of being, but I do not like disorder because it is ugly.  I want my home to be pretty.   I need some new solutions that help me stay on top of it all instead of stuffing and then reorganizing once or twice a year.  Anyone with me on this?

For example, the other day I pulled out the drawer where I stash receipts so I can organize them for taxes,  plus make room for 2013.  Jerry said why don’t you just file them as you get them and make the job easier?  Well, I never thought of that.  I was proud to have made one spot for them and used it.  : )

My computer files are in need of help as well.

I am open to whatever suggestions you have.  : )

    One of the best purchases I made last year was a Neat Scanner. I can now scan all those receipts, store them on my computer, and toss the paper. The software reads the receipt and, after learning my system, automatically puts it in the proper category for taxes or other purposes.
